Vehicle Accident With Fire In Roseville

This morning, at 8:39 a.m., the Roseville Fire and Police Departments responded to a traffic accident involving fire and multiple patients at N. Sunrise Avenue and Automall Drive.  In total, three fire engines, one ladder truck, three ground ambulances, one air ambulance, one EMS supervisor, and one battalion chief (21 emergency personnel) responded to this incident.  The incident commander was Acting Battalion Chief Josh Roten.

Firefighters arrived and found a small car had collided with a semi tractor-trailer in the intersection. The car suffered major damage and was well-involved in fire. A total of three patients were identified. One of the patients was an infant with potentially serious injuries. The other two patients, both adults, suffered moderate injuries.

An air ambulance was requested to transport the injured child directly to the U.C.D. Medical Center in Sacramento, which is the regional pediatric trauma center. The fire was quickly brought under control while firefighters and EMS personnel triaged and treated all three patients. Two adults were transported by ground ambulance to Sutter Roseville Medical Center.

All traffic on N. Sunrise was stopped for several minutes while the helicopter landed to transport the child. Area traffic was diverted away from the accident scene by the Roseville Police Department, who are also investigating the cause of this morning’s crash.
